“As part of the Singapore’s OK campaign to clean up the environment and
improve public hygiene, AVA, NEA , and Town Councils have been working
to improve public hygiene in markets, hawker centers and food establishments.
This includes intensified clearing of stray animals ( cats and dogs) and vermin
(rats and cockroaches) from such places.”

To meet the goals set just to sustain the squeaky-clean environment that we live in, sometimes-unseen underhand methods may be employed. Has anyone come to a realization that an increasing number of animals in our neighbourhoods only exists as pets now, and the strays along with those considered undesirable have gradually vanished? What has happened to the good ol’days when animals were allowed to roam about the kampungs?

Working typically with pen, ink and printmaking, Michy Witchy has turned her sketch into 3D, in a reaction towards an observation regarding the culling of cats, especially sterilized cats in Singapore. She seeks to create awareness about this current issue that has fallen unto deaf ears.
